How to Connect With Anyone in 10 Seconds

The quickest way to connect with someone within 10 seconds as a salesperson is to tell a joke or say something that's currently happening in the news and be over the top with it. For example, the way I break the ice and build rapport really, really quickly, I would say this. If someone asks me, 'How are you doing today?' I would say, 'I'm doing all right. I'm just getting ready for the apocalypse.' It's current, and based on what's going on in the world, it almost feels like it's the apocalypse. Usually, they laugh, and it helps me to build some type of rapport and start a conversation. Use humor and be over the top. That's how you are going to build connections right away. Boom!
