The correct and the most effective approach to scout clients, if you are going about it this way is to actually add value. Not talk about the value you are offering, but actually give them value before they receive your attention. Give more than you receive. It's so simple. A lot of sales reps don't follow it. The way I approach clients, clients that I'm interested in working with, I would go on their website. I would do a free audit report on their social media channels, their websites to see what's going on with their online presence. And then I would also shoot possibly a free commercial. That's what I would do. I would add that value and give them an honest critique based on the interaction I had with the sales rep. I won't tear them down. I say, "You've got a great business, but I'll give you my honest critique," that way it comes off genuine versus sleazy. Boom!
